Choosing the Right Stone for Your Patio

drivewayWhen trying to choose the right stone paver for you patio, it can be overwhelming. There are so many options and a wide variety of pros and cons to each. Let’s look at the options before you make a decision.

Brick Pavers

Brick pavers are beautiful, hardy, and retain their color for a lifetime. They also come at a steep price. They aren’t as strong as concrete pavers, but when they crack or chip it will not be as obvious as the color is the same throughout the brick.

Natural Stone

Natural stone floors create a unique, natural beauty that is hard to achieve with any other material. The stones are cut from quarries and have natural variations in thickness and color. For patios or light traffic walk ways, they are a perfect fit if your budget allows. On the other hand, they are not the best choice for heavy traffic areas.

Flagstone

Flagstone is a great option for patio areas. It can be left in its more natural shape and variation, or cut to more geometric shapes. Flagstone is a great fit if you have a more flexible budget, but can be mixed with other stones to make it more affordable.

Concrete Pavers

Concrete pavers are easily the most inexpensive option. They will be of uniform shape and color, but can also be stained to give them a more natural look. They are perfect for higher traffic areas as they will not wear as quickly as natural stone options.

Thank you for mentioning how you should take the time to do some research and understand the type of paving options you have before choosing one. It is important to remember that taking the time to do some research and read online reviews can help you find the best way to protect your porch. I understand that taking the time to also consult with a professional can help you find the best way to pave your property.

I’ve been looking for some natural stone pavers, and I think that getting some information would be good. I’m glad you talked about being able to do some natural stone and how it creates natural beauty. I’m going to have to look to see if we can find a good stone paver, and figure out what we can find!
